I don’t disagree that “health care” in the U.S. is insane and insanely expensive. But I am surprised by your experience in regards to costs: What I typically see is the “cash” (read: non-negotiated-by-insurance-companies) price of tests and treatments are orders of magnitude higher than for “covered” patients (once they have met their ridiculously high deductibles)— that is: People who can least afford to pay get charged the most.
